I ask my friend about suse:
he is use suse 10.2 x86-64 for video, 2D and 3D applications.
there is no problems with video codecs, but some troubles with audio
(he disable built-in audio and install external one)
almost all 32-bit software work correctly in 64-bit environment (for
e.g. he try maya 32 and 64 bit)
he said me, what is "no matter which linux you use - suse is easy"
PS: install linux as 2nd OS and try it - it's free :)
