i personaly use xfs...though for /boot (/ is on lvm), i use ext3...
(historically grub couldn't read xfs and why change...)
besides, i can mount /boot with journal=data (and most of the time ro)
(performance does not count for /boot i think)

so a fs corruption for /boot is unlikly
