Right kernel for AMD Athlon64-3000+

I've been running an AMD64-3000+ with a generic kernel for the last six
months:
sam@zizyphus:~$ uname -a
Linux zizyphus 2.6.16-2-amd64-generic #1 Sun Jul 16 01:12:23 CEST 2006 x86_64 GNU/Linux
Today I was just wondering if the amd64-k8 kernel wouldn't be more suited
for this processor.
