Hi friends.

I am trying to install NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-1.0-8774-pkg2.run on my new amd64 system but it didn't find kernel source. How do I can install this driver?

My kernel is 2.6.17-2 and Ive installed linux-headers-2.6.17-2 linux-headers-2.6.17-2-amd64 linux-source-2.6.17.

Thanks

Never EVER use the NVidia installers - they're a quick route to a broken system.

1) ensure you have non-free enabled in your sources.list

2) install module-assistant

3) run "m-a a-i nvidia"

4) install the "nvidia-glx" package

5) "dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg", and select the "nvidia" driver (this step won't work if you've edited your xorg.conf by hand before, if so, make this change by hand)

The above relies on having access to the nvidia packages, which are in stable & unstable (but not testing). For testing, just grab the packages manually from unstable: http://ftp.uk.debian.org/debian/pool/non-free/n/nvidia-graphics-drivers/nvidia-glx_1.0.8774-1_amd64.deb and http://ftp.uk.debian.org/debian/pool/non-free/n/nvidia-graphics-drivers/nvidia-kernel-source_1.0.8774-1_amd64.deb
