Fist-time amd64 installation, some questions

Hello all,

I managed today to get Debian installed on my desktop pc.

Said pc is an ABIT KN9-SLI board with an AMD 64x2 AM2 cpu.

I upgraded to Sid, and then went on to compile a custom kernel. I think I got
nearly everything right, but there are some things that I find very strange,
and would like some info about if anyone has any to share.

1. I get the following things in dmesg during bootup:

Aug 27 15:35:04 whocares kernel: PCI-DMA: Disabling IOMMU.

I have no clue how I could enable the IOMMU, the config option is set in the kernel:

whocares:/var/log# cat /usr/src/build/linux-2.6/.config | grep IOMMU
CONFIG_GART_IOMMU=y

?

2. For some weird reason, only 2 of my bunch of usb ports work. No idea what I'm doing wrong, ehci_hcd and uhci_hcd
only find two.

Any pointers are most welcome!
