Broadcom NIC

hi everyone

ive just installed deb sarge on a nice 1ru dual opteron. everything went
smoothly, however im not getting the dual broadcom nics for some reason.

they are without a doubt there, i just think that the driver doesnt
recognise the pci id. (these cards should be BCM57xx, using the tg3
driver)

i have run update-pciids, but a manual search shows that 14e4:0000 is not
at all recognised!?

i also tried building the old driver module-assistant
build ok, but wont load into the 2.6.17 kernel =\

any thoughts on it?
