Hello everyone, After switching from gcc-3.4 branch to pure64, I am experiencing regular kernel oops. By regular i mean at least once per day. I've decided to use the debian packaged kernel (not a custom compiled vanilla kernel). The oops happen on several processes, like gkrellm, firefox and even gnome clock applet. Here is the output from dmesg: ----------------- Unable to handle kernel NULL pointer dereference at 000000000000000a RIP: [<ffffffff802c178b>] PML4 938a067 PGD 14d79067 PMD 0 Oops: 0000 [1] CPU 0 Modules linked in: isofs fglrx vmnet vmmon parport_pc lp parport ipv6 nfs lockd sunrpc eth1394 ohci1394 ieee1394 sata_sil zr36060 adv7175 saa7110 zr36067 i2c_algo_bit videocodec videodev sata_nv libata scsi_mod ftdi_sio usbserial snd_intel8x0 snd_ac97_codec snd_pcm_oss snd_mixer_oss snd_pcm snd_timer snd_page_alloc gameport snd_mpu401_uart snd_rawmidi snd_seq_device snd soundcore forcedeth ehci_hcd usblp ohci_hcd nls_iso8859_1 nls_cp437 vfat fat ext2 it87 eeprom i2c_sensor i2c_isa i2c_core tsdev mousedev evdev ide_cd cdrom psmouse sk98lin ext3 jbd mbcache ide_generic ide_disk amd74xx ide_core unix fbcon font vesafb cfbcopyarea cfbimgblt cfbfillrect Pid: 21615, comm: firefox-bin Tainted: PF 2.6.9-10-amd64-k8 RIP: 0010:[<ffffffff802c178b>] [<ffffffff802c178b>] RSP: 0018:0000010014dabbe0 EFLAGS: 00010206 RAX: 0000000020510000 RBX: 00000100060a3000 RCX: 0000000000000000 RDX: 0000000000000000 RSI: 0000000000000808 RDI: 000001003a590180 RBP: 000001003c35f800 R08: 0000000000000000 R09: 000001003c35f800 R10: 0000000000000000 R11: 0000000000000000 R12: 0000000000000808 R13: 0000010014dabe08 R14: 000001003a590180 R15: 0000010014dabc68 FS: 0000002a95c388f0(0000) GS:ffffffff803ed280(0000) knlGS:00000000574d6220 CS: 0010 DS: 0000 ES: 0000 CR0: 0000000080050033 CR2: 000000000000000a CR3: 0000000000101000 CR4: 00000000000006e0 Process firefox-bin (pid: 21615, threadinfo 0000010014daa000, task 00000100089c90b0) Stack: ffffffffa0019f6e 0000000000000246 0000010008512040 0000000000000808 0000000080243e77 000003e80000546f 00000000000003e8 0000000000000000 0000000000000000 0000000000000216 Call Trace:<ffffffffa0019f6e>{:unix:unix_stream_sendmsg+670} <ffffffff8023de19>{sock_sendmsg+297} <ffffffff802417a3>{sock_def_readable+35} <ffffffffa0019f6e>{:unix:unix_stream_sendmsg+670} <ffffffff8012f4b4>{recalc_task_prio+436} <ffffffff8023e1df>{sock_aio_read+335} <ffffffff80130eb0>{autoremove_wake_function+0} <ffffffff8017d2e3>{poll_freewait+67} <ffffffff8023e472>{sock_readv_writev+130} <ffffffff8023e50e>{sock_writev+62} <ffffffff8016b739>{do_readv_writev+425} <ffffffff80130eb0>{autoremove_wake_function+0} <ffffffff8012f4b4>{recalc_task_prio+436} <ffffffff802a2ff0>{thread_return+41} <ffffffff8016b983>{sys_writev+83} <ffffffff801102fa>{system_call +126} Code: 6b 42 0a 43 6f 6d 6d 69 74 74 65 64 5f 41 53 3a 20 25 38 75 RIP [<ffffffff802c178b>] RSP <0000010014dabbe0> CR2: 000000000000000a ---------------------------- Does anyone know what is causing the oops?
