You could, but in the general case, you don't want to do that.
Sparc64 is slower than sparc32, so the only cases where you actually
want 64 bit support is in the kernel and glibc (so you can run 64 bit
apps) and in special applications such as Postgres.

(AMD64 is generally faster in 64 bit than 32 bit mode due to the
increased number of registers.  Sparc64 does not have that advantage.)
