emacs on amd64?

Hello,

I am trying to get "must-have" apps working on a fresh
debian amd64 system install (Lennart Sorensen's 7/26/5
sarge-amd64-2.6.12-netinst.iso).

I am using the following lines in my sources.list:

deb http://debian.csail.mit.edu/debian-amd64/debian/ stable main contrib
deb http://security.debian.org/ stable/updates main

(Off-topic aside: http://mirror.tamu.edu/debian-amd64/
the mirror closest to me, seems unavailable.)

apt-get update yields:

duop:/home/don# apt-get update
Hit http://debian.csail.mit.edu stable/main Packages
Hit http://debian.csail.mit.edu stable/main Release
Hit http://debian.csail.mit.edu stable/contrib Packages
Hit http://debian.csail.mit.edu stable/contrib Release
Hit http://security.debian.org stable/updates/main
Packages
Hit http://security.debian.org stable/updates/main Release
Reading Package Lists... Done

I try to grab emacs:

duop:/home/don# apt-get install emacs
Reading Package Lists... Done
Building Dependency Tree... Done
Package emacs is not available, but is referred to by another package.
This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or
is only available from another source
E: Package emacs has no installation candidate
duop:/home/don#

Is emacs available on this platform? If so, what am I
missing?

Thanks, Don
