Re: using new kernels in sarge?

I always use kernel-package to roll out my kernels, the question is: do I need the one from sid to compile newer kernels? For one thing, when using the sarge make-kpkg to make kernels, I have to manually build kernel images using yaird (backported from sid) when installing, because the postinst script created by the sarge make-kpkg always tries to use the old initrd-tools
which in turn depend on devfs (yanked from recent kernels). The point is
that I would like to keep my production machines on sarge for stability
reasons, but at the same time I want to use recent kernels, to get the critical bugfixes, with as little backporting as possible...

bye,
Giacomo
