It is possible the same way you can run 32bit applications on
pure64. But Debians g++-3.3 is not compiled for 32/64 bit support,
only g++-3.4 and g++-4.0. Also the amd64-libs package only contains
some core libraries needed to build a 64bit kernel on i386 and might
not be enough for you.

But you can always compile g++-3.3 from source and build any 64bit
libs you need locally. Or you can just create a 64bit chroot and
compile amd use the 64bit stuff in there.

Read the amd64 HowTo concerning 32bit support and in your mind reverse
32 and 64 in all places.
