I had the same prob after the upgrade to 3.4.1
Hope I remember all, what I did ;-)
First erase all in /tmp
Next look for the kdmrc and save a backup of it. Take the
original kdmrc and copy it over the kdmrc. Adjust it and then
try it again.
Hope this was everything.
