Are you building a 64 D-I? Or just support to install from the 64bit
repository?

I think its waste of work to port it to 64 bit and instead
cdebootstrap should be used in d-i and hwdetect should ask for the
32bit or 64bit repository when x86_64 is detected.

That would mean having a kernel udeb, cdebootstrap support and an arch
selection question.
