Bug#257375: nvidia-graphics-drivers: please add AMD64 support
Package: nvidia-graphics-drivers
Version: 1.0.6106-3
Severity: wishlist
Hi Randall,
since NVidia released the same version of their drivers for both i386
and amd64, I think this is a good opportunity to ask you for amd64 to
be supported as well by your packages.
I had no time to look how to adapt the existing source package to
accomplish this in detail, but I think it should be rather trivial:
get the matching *.run depending on DEB_BUILD_ARCH, and for amd64,
copy the 64bit libs to /usr/lib and the additionally provided 32bit
libs to /emul/ia32-linux/usr/lib/ - creating a new nvidia-glx-compat
package, wich has to depend on ia32-libs [amd64].
Concerning TLS libs, debian-amd64 ships by default with a 2.6 kernel
because 2.4 support backport is limited, running a 2.4 kernel is not
recommended at all on amd64 systems.
These are only my own ideas on how to merge amd64 support into the
existing packages, adding debian-amd64@l.d.o to the CC list for further
discussion, as far as needed.
With kind regards
Frederik Schueler
