nVidia drivers for amd64

I wanted to know if anyone has got nvidia drivers working for amd64. I
tried to compile the the drivers by downloading the drivers from
nvidia's website. It didnt even compile later I would a patched version
of the same drivers from http://minion.de/nvidia.html and these drivers
compiled properly.

After I install them and if I run X my machine completely locks up and
the screen is just black. I am running 2.6.6-bk9 kernel with fb support.
I tried even rebooting and running with boot option acpi=off and noapic,
even then I have the same problem. Any help on this appreciated.
