Re: amd64 installer (Debian From Scratch)

Hi,
gave DFS a try today - great idea!

Hardware is a

Gigabyte GA-K8VT800 Pro (VIA SATA, Realtek Gigabit Ethernet)
Athlon 64 3000+
1 GB Memory
Maxtor 160GByte 6Y160M0

No trouble booting the ISO-image, but the installation failed:
Setup three partitions (/boot, swap, /), formatted (ext2 for /boot, ext3
for /) and mounted them without any problems.
Started bootstrapping and the last messages are:
P: Unpacking package gzip
E: Couldn't install root!

Have yet to try to install on just ONE partition, but i don't think this
is the problem.

BTW, i'm running a 32bit Debian/GNU Linux testing/unstable on this
machine as well, kernel is 2.6.6-1-k7, and the harddisk is mounted as
'/dev/hde' - with the built-in SATA support as provided by the kernel
shipping with DFS it is '/dev/sda' ... kinda strange, any ideas why this
is as it is?!

Regards,

Steffen Elste
