Success booting kernel on opteron

Today I spent a few moments and got a working 64-bit kernel built and
booted on Debian unstable. I had to link /usr/bin/ld, as, nm, objcopy
to /usr/bin/x86_64-linux-*. Should binutils package take care of that,
or is it considered a non-issue because future machines will not
bootstrap from 32-bit kernels?

There is only one MTRR range, which seems wrong:

reg01: base=0xfc000000 (4032MB), size= 64MB: uncachable, count=1

In addition dmesg said:

mtrr: v2.02 (20020716))
mtrr: your CPUs had inconsistent fixed MTRR settings
mtrr: probably your BIOS does not setup all CPUs

I have included dmesg output and .config below.

Cheers,
jwb
