Unfortunately, that is the expected behaviour. Most likely, this is just
a trivial kernel configuration problem, but I don't have a box on which
I can debug it. If you want to help out, you can get the source package
and play with the configuration until it works. Until we have a working
configuration, you should have more success with a kernel built from
the vanilla sources (http://www.x86-64.org/Downloads/linux.tar.bz2)
or with kernel binaries from another distribution.
The user space usually work, but there are known problems as well.
