Hello everybody,
I'm new to the debian distribution and therefore new to the list, as well. Currently, I'm trying to install debian linux on my Alphaserver ES80 Model 1 (somehow in that configuration equal to the ES47).
From former posts in mailing lists, I sensed that other users have successfully installed debian on such systems.
In my case, the loading of the linux-kernel and the configuraiton unfortunately gets stuck at one point and I can' figure out, why.
Maybe somebody on the list can give some hints. I used and ISO-image of debian 5.05 (alpha-port).
Below is the console output. It starts with the initalisation of the machine itself (SRM-outputs), so that its configuration is seen.
The system stops at "Using epoch = 2000". I tried to obtain more information using the
option boot_debug=2, but it didn't help.
There's no graphics option installed, just a Gigabit fiber NIC (DEGPA-SA).

Hope, that somebody can help me with that. Would be nice, to have a debian distribution (SMP-kernel) installed on it.
Best
