Sorry, I deleted all the previus messages in this thread, so I don't know the details of your problems, but I am currently using and have previously used several DAC960 controllers in my alphas. The problems I have had are not firmware per se, but the kernel module, and device files. I have come to the conclusion that it is pretty much impossible to install onto the dac960, but you can install onto another drive, and then move the system to the array quite easily. I tried the new sarge installer once, and it installed onto the dac960, but I had other troubles and can't say for sure if it was fully sucsessful.
