I considered your advice, installed gcc 3.2 and compiled kernel 2.4.20.
Unfortunately it didn't help. I still get the above mentioned message on
boot up. Are there any ideas left? If there is absolutely no way to get
2.4.x up and running, could anyone tell me, if a Voodoo3 works
hardwareaccelerated (2D and 3D) with kernel 2.2.x?
