I have sound working perfectly on my Miata PWS500a running kernel 2.4.18

These are the modules loaded:
sb                      2624   1 (autoclean)
sb_lib                 48854   0 (autoclean) [sb]
uart401                 7920   0 (autoclean) [sb_lib]
sound                  83192   1 [sb_lib uart401]

Compile kernel with these options (if I'm not wrong):
CONFIG_SOUND=y
CONFIG_SOUND_OSS=m
CONFIG_SOUND_SB=m
CONFIG_SOUND_YM3812=m

and use /usr/sbin/modconf to make sound module load automatically when needed.
