I am trying to compile the 2.4.18 kernel on a PWS 500au. I failed.
I installed the kernel-sources from woody and tried to recompiled them using
the config file from
the woody 2.4.18 kernel (found in /boot).
All I did was to untar the kernel source copy the did a make menuconfig
using the said config file.
Then did a make dep ; make boot; make modules. While I get the kernel, I
fail with the modules:
gcc -D__KERNEL__ -I/usr/src/kernel-source-2.4.18/include -Wall
-Wstrict-prototypes -Wno-
trigraphs -O2 -fomit-frame-pointer -fno-strict-aliasing -fno-common -pipe
-mno-fp-regs -ffixed-8 -
mcpu=ev5 -Wa,-mev6 -DMODULE -DMODVERSIONS -include
/usr/src/kernel-source-2.4.18/
include/linux/modversions.h -DKBUILD_BASENAME=ambassador -c -o
ambassador.o
ambassador.c
ambassador.c: In function `do_loader_command':
ambassador.c:1985: warning: passing arg 1 of `virt_to_bus' discards
qualifiers from pointer
target type
ambassador.c: In function `amb_talk':
ambassador.c:2256: internal error--unrecognizable insn:
(insn:TI 648 362 649 (set (reg:DI 1 $1)
(plus:DI (reg:DI 30 $30)
(const_int 4398046511104 [0x40000000000]))) -1
(insn_list:REG_DEP_OUTPUT 627
(insn_list:REG_DEP_ANTI 359 (nil)))
(nil))
It looks more like a compiler problem to me but I am not sure.
Anyone any insight??
TIA,
Andrew
