Re: Compaq Fortran sharable libraries

As mentioned in a previous message, I've just installed the latest
Compaq Fortran 1.2 stuff in my newly upgraded Woody. The compiler
works fine but the linker couldn't find the sharable libraries. It's
looking for libraries with names ending in .so.0 but the links in
/usr/lib end in .so . I was able to successfully link a programme
after adding several links to /usr/lib:

     libots.so.0 -> compaq/libots-2.2.7/libots.so
     libcpml.so.0 -> compaq/cpml-5.1.0/libcpml_ev6.so
     libFutil.so.0 -> compaq/cfalrtl-1.2.0/libFutil.so
     libfor.so.0 -> compaq/cfalrtl-1.2.0/libfor.so
     libUfor.so.0 -> compaq/cfalrtl-1.2.0/libUfor.so

Can anyone confirm that the .so.0 links are normally created and it's
something I did wrong? Or is this a bug that needs reporting? or has
already been fixed? (I don't seem to be able to look at package pages
for these packages, to check for new version numbers.)

The .so.0 links should be created by the Debian installer packages... or did you install from aliened RPMs?

Yes, I know the installer packages are out of date, I'll get to them in the next week or two. (Last time I updated one, I found a new version of ccc that afternoon, making my update obsolete; hopefully they've settled down by now.)
