Strange things happen (or not)

Hi !

Since nearly 4 month I'm running an Alphaserver 1000 4/266 and suffering
with strange problems like squid won't run. My odyssee you can read here:

http://www.squid-cache.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=170

Now I'm running Debian Woody and my next problem was apache and php3. Due
to the hoopla around Code Red I saw many things like this in my apache
logs:

[notice] child pid 17121 exit signal Segmentation fault (11)
[notice] child pid 17122 exit signal Segmentation fault (11)
[notice] child pid 17123 exit signal Segmentation fault (11)
[error] [client 63.242.XXX.116] Client sent malformed Host header
[notice] child pid 17128 exit signal Segmentation fault (11)
[error] [client 62.156.XXX.230] File does not exist: /var/www/default.ida
[notice] child pid 17127 exit signal Segmentation fault (11)
[error] [client 62.52.XXX.3] File does not exist: /var/www/default.ida
[notice] child pid 17129 exit signal Segmentation fault (11)
[error] [client 212.XXX.244.8] Client sent malformed Host header
[notice] child pid 17222 exit signal Segmentation fault (11)

After changing to php4 everything works fine. Now I'm in trouble with
mysql-server. First of all is when I'm set a password for the root user
and try to use it mysqladmin hangs and eats up my cpu. When I leave these
passwords blank and make queries through phplib/php4-mysql/apache a apache
process hangs for 30 seconds and this error message occurs:

Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 30 seconds exceeded in \
/etc/horde/db_mysql.inc on line 73

At home I have an ax33pci Alpha-Computer even with Debian Woody and none
of this things happens, so could anyone could give an advice ?

Regards Joern
