There are other issues as well. I've got one SMP machine that no 2.4
kernel except 2.4.0 seems to like. I'm still trying to figure out what
was changed (so far, it doesn't look compiler-related).
Regarding the RAID code, could it be recoded in any way that might change
the generated code? I'm wondering if we could boil this down to a test
cases for gcc...
