RE: Potato on a slate

The last time I did a Debian install it was a nightmare as I used a very old
cdrom (slink).

David Huggins-Daines came here for a few days and helped me get potato
running on the Xp1000a and DS20.
If I grap that tar file :
base2_2.tgz

Can I just point the installer at it and it will run with it?

The boot floppies have appeared on ftp.debian.org and mirrors in
debian/dists/potato/main/disks-alpha/current. The disk images you are
looking for are images-1.44/rescue.bin and images-1.44/root.bin. There is
also an unreleased and untested TFTP/BOOTP image (which probably contains
a slightly older version of the installation system) at
ftp://genie.ucd.ie/pub/alpha/test/tftpboot.img .
