I'm afraid I'm not going to give you the answer but instead tell you
where you can find out all the relevant info..
Firstly check out:

and then

Most of these people seem to use Debian on their multias....
Then there is a very useful list for Multia owners...

Anyway, you'll need to set up your x86 box as a bootp server, and then
you can boot over the network with relative ease...
If you have a SCSI disk for your multia, then you will be able to
boot from SRM straight into it. Unfortunately I have only an IDE disk
and you cannot bootstrap that from SRM (unless someone tells me otherwise)
and am having difficulty getting the ARC console to see the disk at all!
