gnuplot/gv

Hello,
I have a Multia UDB running Debian 2.2. If I try to plot a function/data
using gnuplot I never see a graph but no error message either. It just
stays there. The terminal is X11 but also tried other types like
postscript, latex and pslatex. None of them works. No output file is
written. 
gv does not run either. I do not get any error messages, but I do not see
the file either. 
Does anyone have any idea? The x-server I use is tga and I installed the
complete X environment.
