Installing on Multia -- "Unable to open initial console"

I've made attempts at getting redhat installed on this system before,
so I know it more or less works. I just had next to no storage space at
that time. Things are much happier now.

I've had my fill of redhat, and want to install Debian on this system.
I've gotten the rescue and ramdisk images for the "noname" type as i
believe is appropriate for the Multia/UDB. For sake of argument, this is
the *old* first rev multia.

After loading the ramdisk, the kernel complains that it can't open
/dev/console and panics.

	Any idea what's causing ths?

I'm booting linux from milo with the following commandline:

boot fd:linux root=/dev/fd0 load_ramdisk=1 prompt_ramdisk=1

	Thanks much

 - Eric
