Intermittent crashes with mySQL on slink/alpha

Hi,
I'm trying to build mySQL from source on a new Alpha system running
Slink and I'm having problems with it intermittently segfaulting in
pthread_create. Using the binary mysql-server 3.21.33b-2 package from
Debian,
however, it all works perfectly. Talking to Monty about this he thinks
it's a glibc bug - any ideas on what is going on here, as I've tried
everything I can think of to make this work and it's driving me nuts!
Below is the response I got from Scott Hanson on this - is there anyone
out there who had built mysql on alpha who could comment?

             Regards,
                 John
