sysvinit_2.75-4.1.deb trashes file systems
Hi,
We have now managed to install base :) There were some problems,
though. The first was with the floppy drive, probably another kernel
would work.
The second is more severe: The first thing after installing basre was
to do "dpkg -iGOEB" in the base mirror dir. This worked fine till it
came to sysvinit_2.75-4.1.deb. That spawned a new init process (INIT:
version 2.75 booting) and started a fsck, which checked the mounted
drives, which were of course inconsistent, because they were mounted,
and tried to fix them, which of course trashed them. The behaviour was
reproducible.
The init being spawned is clearly a bug. Also, usually, fsck refuses
to check mounted file systems, which seems to be overridden by the
init scripts. That is BAD, imho.
Bye,
Falk
