Damn, I just unpacked the libc6.1-dev .deb here (I don't have access to
my Alpha at the moment), and I see that it's exactly the same as the
i386 version (which is exactly what I had expected).
I heavily suspect that in the package building frenzy I was in last
night, I confused a couple of xterms and used unistd.h instead of
stdlib.h.
James: please change the malloc.h to stdlib.h.
