Note that the alpha version of the X stuff has a lot of patches applied that aren't in the i386 version yet, that's why it has the -6.1 debian revision. Without them the Matrox server dies if you start more that a dozen or so clients, and 24-bit TGA cards don't work. Look for X bugs filed by me to find the patches.
I've been holding out for news as to problems in the alpha packages so I know what to fix in -7 (or possibly -8, there are still problems with -7 apparently), and also to find some time to do it (though I think I can see the oncoming train now, so I'll probably compile and upload -7.1 during the weekend).
