9 gig disk appears to be too large for AlphaLinux



The following message is a courtesy copy of an article
that has been posted to comp.os.linux.hardware as well.


I installed Redhat 4.2 for Alphas on my AlphaStation 250 4/266 on the
internal drive successfully. I then followed the exact same procedure
for my Micropolis 9gig. Then when, at the MILO prompt, I typed:

boot sdb2:vmlinux.gz root=/dev/sdb2

It said:

ext2_mount: too many groups (1022): max is 256


Is there anyway around this brain damage?
