Hello team,
I'm in the market for a new laptop [1] and I figured I should look for a sponsor while I am at it. Does anyone else have an interest in ROCm and/or Ryzen AI on laptops?
I suspect ROCm on integrated graphics is on the verge of working. However, it is not officially supported upstream and it would benefit from power users that could identify bugs and limitations.
I expect Debian will enable ROCm libraries on Phoenix (gfx1103) and Strix Point (gfx1150?) via the gfx11-generic compilation target, which means it will be unlikely to happen until next year. That said, the GFX override workaround will probably work in the meantime. Linux 6.10+ is also recommended [2].
Phoenix and Strix also include XDNA 1 and XDNA 2 NPUs, respectively. These provide hardware acceleration for common ONNX model operations.
Sincerely,
Cory Bloor
