ROCm 4.5.0 Release
Hello,
ROCm 4.5.0 released at the end of October, so I figured I would check in
again.
I know there have been questions about official RDNA/RDNA2 support. I'll
refer you to John Bridgman on this topic, who stated "my current
understanding is that all the RDNA/RDNA2 code was in place for this
release but we ran into some issues in QA and held off on announcing
anything."
(https://www.phoronix.com/forums/forum/linux-graphics-x-org-drivers/open-source-amd-linux/1287923-radeon-rocm-4-5-released-with-hip-runtime-compilation-unified-memory-support?p=1288191#post1288191)
The ROCm documentation for building from source is still limited, but
more third-party reference material is available these days. I've
mentioned spack recipes before
(https://github.com/spack/spack/tree/develop/var/spack/repos/builtin/packages),
but there's also now packages on Gentoo (e.g.,
https://packages.gentoo.org/packages/sci-libs/rocBLAS) and Arch
(https://github.com/rocm-arch/rocm-arch).
If you need any help with packaging, please let me know. I was finally
able to buy an RX 6800 XT for my personal rig, and can install Debian to
debug issues. I'd be happy to answer any questions over email, or hop
into IRC (or whatever) and work through any problems you encounter.
Sincerely,
Cory Bloor
