Would it be a better idea to make an aplication (lets call it debask)
that would make the questions to the user or fetch the answers from
a database? That way, the instalation policy could be set in a menu
of dselect (Something like: "Configuration from: Remote database/Local
database/User") and the maintainer only use a call to "debask"
debask base Question "Should I use shadow passwords?" Y N...
That would tell debask to place a Question for the package base, with
that text, and those posible answers.
This colud allow an administrator to install the base system, chose a
selection (or a predefined selection), tell dselect to ask to a central
database for the answers and just press enter. :-) Nice, isn´t it? I
administer a group of > 100 machines. Most of them under debian, and the
rest are UltraSparc with Slowaris. A centralized system for the instalation
would be of GREAT help for me.
C U!
