Re: Volume control on debian system? (Was: Bug#985666: alsa-utils: no sound after installation)

Hi, With the mini iso file you had me test what build target did you use once the latest espeakup udeb was in the repository or if I was interested in building the latest network installer including the non-free firmware what target would I pass so I can test this out on a real system that requires those drivers to work?  Nick Gawronski

One thing that was not carried across is
during the installation for testing I did set the volume using the speakup
shortcut keys to 9 and found that the volume was still at I think the
default was 5.
Yes, that part is a bit more involved, and it'll be hard to sell it to
debian-release. The user can still change it with the speakup shortcuts
so it's less of a sever problem.

What was patched in this mini.iso to have the espeakup working
You can find it in the espeakup debian repository on salsa

git@salsa.debian.org:a11y-team/espeakup.git

I wish to make changes to it and not have the udebs remove my changes
like what you did to fix this issue how do I go about this?
You can build a .udeb, and put it into the build/localudebs/ directory
of the debian installer. Provided that the version number is higher than
what is already in debian, it will pick it up.

Could the default boot target on a custom image be changed to
automatically or after about 4 seconds start the talking version of
the installer?
That's configured in the boot/x86/*.cfg files
