No argument there , it is working as it should.Has explained in a previous thread I install Debian for sited user and those users don't need orca speaking to them!!! :) That's why I disable speakup/orca from autamatically speaking but I need to keep orca/speakup when I help them.
I must say I never understood why installing Debian with accessibility would assume that accessibility should be enabled at boot on the installed system.
I'm playing with kernel boot parameter, could the following do what I want? boot install DEBIAN_FRONTEND=text priority=low speakup.synth=soft I'm open to any suggestions. -- John Doe
