Re: Issues with the current Netinst Installer

Well, an issue is not supposed to be "documented", but rather
"reported", so that it can actually be fixed instead of just kept around
ad aeternam :)

So, as documented in the installation manual, using reportbug
against the installation-reports pseudo package would have been more
appropriate, but Cc-ing debian-accessibility would have been more
than welcome to get the attention of accessibility people too, so
just mailing debian-accessibility makes sense indeed, it's just that
gathering the discussion in a proper BTS entry is better on the long run
for people to find out again about this issue.

Anyway, back to the issue:

Just to make sure: what do you mean by "getting Speakup launched"? You
mean speakup inside the installer, not inside the installed system,
right?

That one is expected, that's a new feature of Jessie.

That one is not of course. Did you install the graphical desktop task?
There may be interferences between speakup and the graphical login
manager screen reader. It'd still be surprising that there is no audio
output at all, however.

Well, we can't really say much more either. Could you perhaps take a
picture of the screen with your phone or something?

That may make a difference indeed, in the audio board that is being
emulated. Normally the drivers & settings are the same within the
installer and within the installed system, but who knows...

I've just tried with kvm's ac97 emulation, I don't have any issue, I do
get speech after reboot. I don't have VMware so I can't test with your
conditions, perhaps you should retry with kvm.

Well, it's better to discuss on-list, so people can contribute to the
discussion, and benefit from the discussion.
