making my Braille display work with BRLTTY

Hi all,

even after upgrading to Debian Jessie, I am not able to use my Braille display with BRLTTY. So I started investigating further about the problem…

My Braille display is the MDV Lilli; on the manufacturer website, it is written that to make this display work with BRLTTY you need to connect it using a serial-to-USB cable; however, I don’t have any serial port in my laptop, so this is not a solution for me.

From what I know, the MDV Lilli is the USB version of another Braille display called MB408 that works with BRLTTY and can be connected only with a serial port. So, I was wondering if:
1. The fact that this USB Braille display doesn’t wok with BRLTTY is caused by a technical limitation of BRLTTY or by the absence of an appropriate driver;
2. Eventually, if the MB408 driver can be adapted “easily” to work for the Lilli Braille display, since the two devices share the same working protocol (that I could eventually get from the manufacturer).
3. If there is any documentation on how to adapt this driver: i.e. BRLTTY API Reference, coding standards documentation, code examples, etc…
4. When I eventually write this driver, it can be submitted for inclusion in BRLTTY.
