Did you run orca --setup from the shell (with BRLTTY running, of course)? If
not, try that.

I don't know, but if you want to experiment with Orca I would suggest
upgrading everything to the latest Debian Sid packages, as Orca and Gnome
accessibility have been evolving rapidly.
