gnome-speech-swift
Hi.
There is now support for those who want to use the Cepstral swift
speech engine with GNOME Speech. Provided you have contrib in your
/etc/apt/sources.list (and use unstable/sid), you simply need to type
apt-get install gnome-speech-swift
if you already have the cepstral swift engine installed.
Note that the swift engineis commercial software and needs to be licensed to
be useful. GNOME Speech already includes a pretty useful
multilingual free backend (espeak) by default.
If you installed swift you need to make sure yourself that the provided
shared libraries are found correctly. A nice and clean way to
do this is to run the following command as root:
echo /path/to/swift/lib >/etc/ld.so.conf.d/swift.conf && ldconfig
If you ever change the location of your swift installation or
upgrade it to a newer version, you can trigger a recompilation of the
GNOME Speech swift driver by invoking:
dpkg-reconfigure gnome-speech-swift
If you do use the gnome-speech-swift package, please let us know
about your results.
