while sudo might mena this :) it's not intirely what it can do.
If setup correctly you even can run stuff as other (regular) users.
However, this is secondary to the primary run-as-root functionality.
Saye goes for the su-command which cna be used to become another user
without having to login again.
very handy together with the screen program which let's you run multiple
pograms from oen login-shell (and even keep them running when logging
out).
