O.k. there's the -s flag which tells the kernel to load into ST-RAM, so
I'm assuming omitting that loads the kernel into TT-RAM.

If I do that and don't load a ramdisk to check at least the kernel
boots, I'm getting somewhere.

Using BOOTSTRA.TOS the screen goes black, but then there's a bunch of
vertical lines. I've tried video=atafb:sthigh, and then stmid and ttmid
as well as vga16. Apart from sthigh giving slightly different colours
it's still vertical lines.
