Unless it fails I should have said...

rebuild archive library libpdflib804.a in /mclibs/pdf
Sun Sep 5 14:08:20 CEST 2004
Sun Sep 5 14:09:15 CEST 2004
ranlib libpdflib804.a
ranlib: libpdflib804.a: Input/output error
make[4]: *** [libpdflib804.a] Error 1

(gdb) run libpdflib804.a
Starting program: /usr/bin/ranlib libpdflib804.a
(no debugging symbols found)...(no debugging symbols found)...(no debugging symbols found).../usr/bin/ranlib:
libpdflib804.a: Input/output error

Program exited with code 01.

I have no idea what the problem is, the chroot partition is only half full,
more than 2GB free space available. There also should be enough memory, but
if it ran out of memory, it would have said so, wouldn't it?

buildd@aahz:~>free
total used free shared buffers cached
Mem: 126992 114452 12540 0 3360 39988
-/+ buffers/cache: 71104 55888
Swap: 261632 22276 239356

This is after it failed of course... repeatedly calling free duirng another
ranlib run, does not show any memory problem, the swap space is never
touched.
