Ok, This worked! I was able to go into 'target' and change the /etc/inttab
setting back to 3. So when I rebooted I was right back where I started.
Thanks. But now why does X keep asking for my password. This is the
problem I was trying to fix when I hosed things up. When I was trying to
get X running before, and it wasn't finding proper modes, I was able to
startx from bash after logging in and used it some, but now that it is
finding the right screen during bootup, it goes straight to X and keeps
repeating the password rtn. Now what?
I finally discovered how to get in and out of X, but leaving X and logging
in and then returning to X did not work, X still kept repeating the
password rtn. It recognizes when I put in a bad password, but won't let me
in with a good one. Someone on another list said it was one of the respawn
commands in the inittab file, what should I do?
