Re: Error installing the xbase

Hello,

(Reading database ... 8277 files and directories currently
installed.)
	Unpacking xbase (from .../m68k/xbase_3.3.2.1-1.0.1.deb) ...
	dpkg: error processing /defiant/m68k/xbase_3.3.2.1-1.0.1.deb
(--install):
error setting ownership of symlink tc/X11/xinit/xinitrc': No such
file or
	directory
dpkg-deb: subprocess paste killed by signal (Broken pipe)
	Errors were encountered while processing:
	 /defiant/m68k/xbase_3.3.2.1-1.0.1.deb

I got some similar problems when installing debian-powerpc packages for the
first time.

it seems that dpkg get confused when there is a symlink in a package that
points to another file of the same package.

the problem appear when the symlink comes first in the list and the pointed
file was not yet extracted. The manual solution consist in touching the
target files of the symlinks and the extract the packages. It worked for me
but is not nice :<

i supposed that recent versions of dpkg have this fixed.

Friendly,

Sven LUTHER
