[Debconf-video] Camcorder tryout and purchase

Hey all,

I had a 20 minute phone conversation with the sales manager of a Parisian AV
shop. Here's a dump of our conversation.

I initially enquired by mail a tryout for the three models Wouter listed, with
subsequent purchase of six items.

It seems the Canon model is on the way out and they sold their demo/borrow
model; It's a five year old model, doesn't do 4k, and will probably be
superseded by Canon in the fall. They still sell them and we can rent so that's
an option. The rental price would be discounted from the final purchase.

They offered to lend us the Sony and the JVC models for a few days to try out,
or to check them out directly at the shop (which doesn't help with trying the
capture, but at least gives an idea of quality).

They don't have 6 of each in stock but their lead time for recent orders has
been less than a week. They sell all three models regularly.

In the guy's experience, the Sony after-sales service is better than Panasonic
or Canon: Sony does on-site pickup and full online tracking, while you have to
go through the reseller for the others.

I've sent in the details to get the cameras to try out next weekend (Fri 23 -
Mon 26).

I've also asked them to draft me a purchase order with options for the
following :

- 6 of either (Sony PXW-X70; Sony PXW-X70 with 4k firmware unlock; JVC
GY-HM200E; Canon XA-35). I've checked and all models come with an AC adapter
  and the XLR accessory.
- 12 64 GiB SDXC cards (2 for each cam)
- 5 blackmagic cards (they carry them, might as well buy them in one go)
- 1 small flight case (2 camcorders) => Peli 1520 or 1550, actual dimensions to
  be checked for MiniDebConfs.
- 1 big flight case (4 camcorders) => Peli 1650, again actual dimensions to be
  checked.

I'll let you know when they get back to me, probably on Monday.

Cheers,
